Q. |
What false alarm rate can be expected with SmartGrate? |
| A. | SmartGrate, along with all other LightLOC products, was designed to be a zero-false-alarm solution. SmartGrate and its monitoring system will not sound an alarm unless the grate is in the process of or has been breached. Water flow, debris, wind, wildlife, and all other expected sources of movement at a grate location will not trigger an alarm. |
Q. |
How small/large of an opening can SmartGrate protect? |
| A. | SmartGrate is custom engineered and fabricated to meet the needs of each customer site. In addition to overall size, the grate openings (bar spacing) can be of any size necessary. |
Q. |
How sensitive is the sensing component to standing and running water-from a physical endurance and a sensor sensitivity standpoint? |
| A. | SmartGrate is designed to stand up to the rushing water typically found in culvert applications. It is constructed of ½-inch diameter, steel tubing. The wall thickness is 0.035” in the early detection version and 0.095” in the standard version. The 0.035” medium duty grate is designed to alarm if tampering occurs. The tubes are laced with optical fiber such that all tubes are covered and are then filled with a specifically designed material to provide an alarm if an attempt is made to pry or jack the bars apart. The heavy duty version is designed for brute strength. All tubes are laced with fiber to detect if any tube is cut or an attempt is made to remove the grate. Both designs are constructed to ensure false alarms do not occur as the result of water flow or bumps from debris or wildlife. |
Q. |
What sizes do the SmartGRATE come in? |
| A. | The SmartGRATEs were designed to fit onto headwalls with the following pipe sizes: 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, and 48 inch diameters. |
Q. |
Does the SmartGRATE only come in a square/rectangular configuration? |
| A. | No, SmartGRATEs can be custom-designed to fit a customersite requirements. |
Q. |
How can the SmartGRATE be tied into our current alarm systems? |
| A. | Yes, our LightLOC monitoring systems can be integrated to existing alarms via hard contacts or through software gateways. |
Q. |
Does the fiber inside the grate sense on vibrations? |
Q. |
What kind of steel is used to make the SmartGRATE? |
| A. | Mild steel or stainless steel is used to build the SmartGRATE depending on whether it will be exposed to a dry or wet environment. They can also be powder-coated or galvanized to extend their life. |
