About Network Level System Monitoring
LightLOC is a patented, fiber optic based security system providing the optimum in perimeter and access security. The system provides monitoring of remote access points and perimeters using a family of sensors and cables developed and made by LightLOC. The robustness of the system eliminates false alarms commonly seen with other fiber-based security systems. Monitored items can include manholes, gates, doors, culverts, perimeter vehicle detection cable, vehicle denial cable, and custom applications. Monitoring is possible at distances of up to 25km without the need for electrical power at the monitored locations. LightLOC systems are inherently tamper resistant since altering or destroying optical components triggers alarms automatically.
The heart of the LightLOC system is its state-of-the-art Network Level System. Using optical time domain reflectometers (OTDRs), the Network Level System is capable of monitoring any combination of LightLOC sensors, pinpointing alarming locations to within a few meters typically, and determining the incursion type. Custom software learns the secure state of the system and uses it as a basis for identifying deviances and determining alarms. Multiple alarming locations may be identified simultaneously. The software also provides a GUI containing a site map, sensor location and status details, and system control features as well as manages communications with the OTDRs and any remote monitoring locations over a network. It is designed to support campus-wide applications and currently supports up to eight separate monitored fibers with up to 25 discrete sensors per line depending on the application. Outputs from the Network Level System include remote monitoring interfaces, relays, e-mail alerts, and custom outputs as required.
