Express
Q. |
How does Express differ from a network-based LightLOC system? |
| A. | Express is a module for monitoring small systems and single points where sensors do not have to be differentiated. It does not have the location capability that the network level system has. The network system is capable of campus-wide monitoring applications and identification of particular sensors. |
Q. |
Can I use multi-mode fiber in my system? |
| A. | No, single-mode fiber is required. Express uses it for its increased attenuation sensitivity. |
Q. |
What is the power usage of Express? |
| A. | Typically around 2W |
Q. |
Can Express be installed outside? |
| A. | Yes, Express modules are available for outdoor use over the temperature range -40C to 70C. They should be installed in a weather resistant enclosure for protection when outside. |
Q. |
Does Express contain a laser? |
| A. | Yes, Express uses a 1550nm laser. For this reason, caution should be taken around a powered module. One should NEVER stare into the output of a laser. |
Q. |
How quickly does Express detect an intrusion? |
| A. | Express immediately detects any intrusion attempt exceeding the preset threshold. |
Q. |
How sensitive is Express? |
| A. | Express is capable of detecting attenuation in the fiber resulting from a breach attempt as well as a fiber break. Any attenuation exceeding its preset threshold (typically 2.9dB) is detected. |
Q. |
What notification options are available with Express? |
| A. | Express has relay outputs to indicate a breach or break alarm. It may also be tied in with a network-based LightLOC system affording many more output options. |
Q. |
Is Express vibration sensitive? |
| A. | No. Express is designed to not detect vibration to prevent unnecessary nuisance alarms. |
